Introducing co-founder, Dr Andie Siggers

Co-founder B MedSci BMBS MRCP MRCGP DFFP PGCME IFMCP DipBSLM

I previously worked as a GP for over fifteen years, and prior to this worked in hospital medicine and apparently stated I wanted to be a doctor age seven! This desire at an early age was driven by love of science and then later a desire to work with people and improve health by working alongside patients.

During my career, I’ve been lucky to work in diverse reas from the Pioneering Cardiac Centre at UCSD in California to the jungles of Belize and across various areas of the South Coast of England. I have been back living in Dorset since 2016.

As a teenager, I had glandular fever, and the “wait it out” solution to the overwhelming fatigue was difficult. Eventually, someone wise suggested digestive enzymes might help, and energy levels returned within weeks. This experience left a real mark, a personalised approach that highlighted the need to search for the underlying cause and a realisation that treating the gut can often have surprising results. Having never forgotten this experience, there has always been a desire to understand this field of medicine better.

I’m a fully certified functional medicine practitioner with the Institute of Functional Medicine in the United States and with lifestyle medicine in the UK. In addition, I have trained in epigenetics with both LifecoGX and DNA Life, extended SIBO training, Dutch training, detoxification, and continue to prioritise lifelong learning. Additionally, I work as a mentor to other doctors training in functional medicine, including facilitation at IFM training courses, alongside being a founding trustee for the British College of Functional Medicine.

I hold full registration with the General Medical Council. I’m a member of the Institute of Functional Medicine and have undertaken membership to the Royal Colleges of Physicians and of General Practice. My specialist areas within functional medicine are those of hormonal health – be that women’s health, thyroid health or men’s health along with autoimmunity and complex gut issues, including SIBO.

When not working, I may be found paddleboarding, running, undertaking Hyrox challenges, and enjoying all that Dorset life has to offer with family, friends, and our trusty cockapoo, Ludo.
