Functional Medicine for Inflammatory Bowel Disease with Mosaic Medical
Are you struggling with Crohn’s or ulcerative colitis? At Mosaic Medical, we work with patients across the UK, offering a personalised, root-cause approach to IBD through functional medicine.
A Root-Cause Approach to Inflammatory Bowel Disease
What is IBD?
Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) refers to chronic inflammation of the digestive tract and includes two main conditions: Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. Both involve an abnormal immune response that damages the gut lining, causing inflammation, tissue injury, and wide-ranging symptoms.
- Abdominal pain and cramping
- Chronic diarrhoea or urgent bowel movements
- Blood in the stool
- Fatigue
- Weight loss
- Nutrient deficiencies
- Anaemia
Conventional treatment often involves immunosuppressants, steroids, or biologic drugs. While these can reduce inflammation, they don’t always address the underlying triggers driving immune dysfunction. At Mosaic Medical, we never advise stopping prescribed medication as we work alongside our Gastroenterology colleagues. Instead, our goal is to help stabilise your condition, reduce flares, and potentially lower your long-term medication needs.
Our Functional Medicine Approach
We focus on identifying what’s fuelling your inflammation and then creating a personalised plan to restore balance and promote healing.
- Advanced testing where appropriate – gut microbiome, infections, inflammation markers, and food sensitivities
- Tailored nutrition & lifestyle strategies – designed for your unique physiology
- Restoring gut barrier integrity – improving how your digestive tract functions
- Immune system modulation – using targeted supplementation, stress management, and personalised interventions
- Long-term healing – not just symptom suppression
- Dizziness or fainting
Research around the microbiome and IBD is rapidly evolving. With ongoing training and access to advanced testing, our team stays up-to-date so we can apply the latest knowledge to your care.

- Chronic infections
- Increased intestinal permeability ("leaky gut")
- Food sensitivities
- Heavy metal or chemical exposures
- Stress-related immune disruption
- Nutrient deficiencies
Inflammatory Bowel Disease FAQs
Do you offer lab testing for IBD?
Yes. We use comprehensive stool tests, inflammation markers, nutrient panels, food sensitivity testing, and immune function assessments. Most patients come with a diagnosis already, but we can also organise diagnostic testing when needed.
Can you work alongside my gastroenterologist?
Absolutely. We always recommend you continue care with your specialist while we support your healing with a functional approach.
Do you help with Crohn’s, ulcerative colitis, or both?
Yes – we support patients with either condition, whether newly diagnosed or managing long-term challenges.
Do you offer remote consultations?
Yes, we work virtually with patients across the UK.
How do appointments work?
Your first appointment is 90 minutes, with additional preparation time already spent on your case. Together, we’ll map out your health history, current issues, and next steps, including any testing.
Does the appointment price include testing?
Testing is personalised and separate from appointments. We only recommend tests that will genuinely influence your treatment plan.
I’ve already had a test and a diagnosis – can you still help?
Yes. You’ll be able to upload your results in your pre-consultation forms. If you have a large volume of results, there may be a small additional preparation fee (discussed in advance).
How does the nutrition side work?
We’ll guide you on nutrition tailored to your IBD. For more complex cases, we recommend working with our nutritional therapist alongside your doctor for faster and more effective results.
Ready to Work on Your IBD Differently?
We recommend starting with a free discovery call with one of our doctors or nutritional therapists. This gives you the chance to discuss your situation and decide whether our approach is right for you.
