Condition
The foundations of your energy, resilience and long-term health
Your heart and metabolic health sit at the core of your long-term wellbeing. They influence how you feel day to day, including your energy, mood, stamina and mental clarity, as well as your healthspan and your lifespan.
Conditions such as high blood pressure, raised cholesterol, insulin resistance, blood sugar instability, weight fluctuation and fatigue often develop quietly over many years. You may feel not quite yourself long before anything appears abnormal on standard tests. Those early signals matter, because they are often the first clue that your cardiovascular or metabolic systems need deeper support.
At Mosaic Medical we work with people experiencing the full spectrum of metabolic and cardiovascular challenges, including:
- High blood pressure and early hypertension
- Elevated cholesterol or triglycerides
- Insulin resistance and pre-diabetes
- Weight gain or difficulty losing weight
- Fatigue or reduced exercise tolerance, sometimes alongside thyroid or fatigue issues
- Metabolic syndrome and type 1 and type 2 diabetes
- Heart attack and stroke recovery
Our doctors combine conventional medical expertise with a root-cause, personalised approach, supported by our registered nutritional therapist where that will help. We do not just aim to improve your numbers. We aim to strengthen the systems that determine how well you age, how resilient you feel and how long you stay healthy.
Heart health for women
Cardiovascular risk in women is often assessed late, partly because symptoms can present differently and partly because risk changes as hormones change. In the years around menopause, many women see a shift in cholesterol and triglycerides, blood pressure, body composition and insulin sensitivity, even when nothing about their diet or activity has changed.
We look at that picture as a whole rather than at a single cholesterol reading, which may include:
- Advanced lipid testing, including particle number and Lp(a), as covered in our article on advanced lipid testing
- Inflammatory and metabolic markers alongside standard bloods
- Blood sugar patterns, including continuous glucose monitoring where useful
- Hormonal changes and how they interact with thyroid function and stress
- Nutrition, fibre and the microbiome, which we explore in our article on metabolic health, fibre and prebiotics
- Strength and muscle mass in midlife, which we cover in our article on lifting weights as midlife medicine
Why Metabolic and Cardiovascular Issues Often Resist Standard Solutions
Traditional care often focuses on controlling risk factors with statins or blood pressure medication, simplified dietary advice, or broad eat less and move more recommendations. These can help, but they often do not address the underlying drivers. As a result, many people:
- Experience only partial improvement
- Feel frustrated when symptoms persist despite normal tests
- Struggle with fatigue, weight changes or palpitations even on medication
- Cycle between different plans without lasting progress
Metabolic and cardiovascular health are shaped by multiple interconnected systems: hormones, inflammation, insulin sensitivity, the gut, stress, sleep, genetics and environment. Without understanding those relationships, symptoms tend to return.
Our Root-Cause Approach to Heart and Metabolic Health
We listen to the whole story
Your symptoms don’t exist in isolation. We take time to understand your full history — from stress and sleep to diet, lifestyle, family history, prior medications, infections, environmental exposure and more.
We investigate what is behind the numbers
We may recommend deeper, more comprehensive assessments such as:
- Full metabolic panel (glucose, HbA1c, insulin, lipids)
- Advanced cardiovascular risk markers
- Hormone, thyroid and adrenal testing
- Nutrient and micronutrient panels
- Inflammatory markers
- Gut health and microbiome tests
- Genetic or epigenetic screening where relevant
These insights help us understand not just what is happening — but why.
We Connect the Dots Across Systems
Your heart and metabolism interact closely with your:
- Hormones
- Immune system
- Gut function
- Nervous system
- Stress response
- Inflammatory pathways
Understanding these relationships allows us to design personalised interventions that support your whole system.

- Stress and nervous system regulation
- Gut and microbiome support
- Sleep and circadian rhythm optimisation
- Hormone balancing

FAQs
Do medications prevent me from working with you?
Not at all. Many of our patients take cholesterol, blood pressure or diabetes medication. We work alongside your prescribing clinician, and any adjustments are collaborative.
Do I need a diagnosis first?
No. Many people come to us before a diagnosis, when symptoms are emerging but not yet recognised on standard tests.
Is this mostly about diet?
Nutrition is foundational, but true metabolic health involves hormones, sleep, gut health, stress, inflammation, movement, environment and genetics. We address the whole system.
How soon will I see changes?
Some patients notice improved energy, steadier blood sugar or better sleep within weeks. Deeper metabolic and cardiovascular shifts take time — but they are long-lasting.
