We have a breast cancer prevention service for those with a family history of breast cancer, or who are concerned about their breast cancer risk. We also see people who are in breast cancer remission who want to know what they can do to reduce the risk of recurrence. Please note, we do not see patients with active cancer who are looking for oncology input.

Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers affecting women worldwide. In the UK, approximately 1 in 7 women in the UK will develop breast cancer in their lifetime.

Despite these statistics, there is hope. Understanding breast cancer, its risk factors, and adopting a proactive approach can significantly reduce the likelihood of developing this disease. At Mosaic Medical, we are proud to be able to offer a fully personalised and comprehensive breast cancer prevention programme which aims to empower you with the knowledge about breast cancer prevention, what your individual risk is, and most importantly, what you can do about it. There is LOTS that is modifiable about breast cancer risk.

How can we prevent breast cancer?

Prevention plays a vital role in reducing the incidence and burden of breast cancer. The preventative approach involves identifying ways in which you are genetically and environmentally predisposed to breast cancer and adopting healthy nutrition and lifestyle habits to address this risk. Whilst we cannot guarantee that we can completely prevent the development of breast cancer, we can ensure that you have access to the most cutting edge testing which looks at your individual risk, as well as follow up with our team of passionate Functional Medicine specialists.

Why genetic risk isn’t just about BRCA genes

Whilst most people know about genes such as BRCA1 and BRCA2 which significantly increase risk for cancer, there are many other genes which are involved with hormonal regulation in the body which can also affect breast cancer risk. The genes we look at in our genetic panels can be dialled up or down by environmental factors such as food, lifestyles and nutraceuticals/supplements, giving you a unique insight into what your genetic predispositions are and what you can do about them. We also use in depth hormone testing to look at what is happening in real time with your hormones so we can get a better idea of your overall breast cancer risk. We also review all lifestyle factors with you such as diet, exercise and toxins which are known to affect breast cancer risk.

How much does it cost?

Personalised medicine is at the core of how we treat patients at Mosaic. For this reason, we do not offer standardised packages as the amount of support that someone needs varies between individuals. Cost of treatment will therefore vary but as a minimum we suggest these appointments:

  • 2x 90 minute appointments with our Oncology Focused doctor
  • 3x 45 minutes appointments with our Nutritional Therapist
  • The total prices of these appointments starts from £1000
  • Stool testing is optional for those who want to understand how gut health plays a role in breast cancer development’

To more fully understand breast cancer risk we offer the following functional tests:

  • Nutrigenomic testing
  • Blood testing to assess metabolic health
  • DUTCH hormone testing
  • The cost of these 3 tests together start form £1000

Breast cancer prevention is a multifaceted approach that involves awareness, education and proactive lifestyle choices. By understanding your individual risk factors, adopting healthy habits and leveraging the principles of functional medicine, individuals can significantly reduce their risk of developing breast cancer. Remember, early detection through regular screenings and self-exams remains crucial.

Together, we can work towards a future where breast cancer is not just treatable but preventable.
