Dr Isobel Wilson

Co-founder

Isobel is a Functional Medicine medical doctor and co-founder of Mosaic Medical, based in Edinburgh and the first medical doctor to practise this approach in Scotland.

She studied medicine at Cardiff University before undertaking a BSc in Cellular and Molecular Pathology, where she developed a deep interest in the complex biological mechanisms underpinning chronic disease. During this time, she also became aware of the powerful connection between mind and body, which led her to qualify as a Hatha yoga teacher before graduating in 2015.

She has since worked in hospitals across the UK and rural South Africa, experiences that highlighted for her the profound impact of modern lifestyle factors and our environment on health. This has shaped her passion for a model of healthcare that addresses the root causes of illness rather than simply managing symptoms.

Isobel is fully certified with the Institute for Functional Medicine and has completed advanced training in Gastrointestinal Health, Cardiometabolic Health, Immune Health, Environmental Health, Hormones and Bioenergetics, as well as further training in Nutrigenetics and Nutrigenomics. She has also completed training with the British Menopause Society and is a member of both the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh and the Institute for Functional Medicine. Her ongoing professional development is focused on Functional Immunology and Autoimmunity, and she mentors Functional Medicine doctors as part of her commitment to supporting the next generation of clinicians in this field.

Her approach is patient-centred, compassionate and thorough. Patients frequently describe Isobel as kind and thoughtful, noting that she leaves no stone unturned in working to understand and address the root cause(s) of their health concerns.
Her particular clinical interests include autoimmunity, fatigue disorders, thyroid conditions, as well as histamine and mast cell disorders.

Outside of work, Isobel enjoys yoga, cooking, running, reading novels, and being at the beach by her home with her family.
