Functional Medicine for Male Hormone Conditions with Mosaic Medical
What Is Andropause?
Andropause, sometimes referred to as “male menopause,” describes the gradual decline in testosterone and other hormones in men, usually beginning around age 40. Unlike menopause in women, the changes are more subtle and progress over years.
How It Affects People:
Testosterone plays a role in nearly every system of the male body — influencing metabolism, muscle strength, brain function, mood, cardiovascular health, and sexual vitality. When levels drop, many men feel “not themselves,” often without a clear explanation.
- Reduced libido or changes in erectile function (in a minority of cases)
- Fatigue and low motivation
- Weight gain, particularly around the midsection
- Mood changes, depression, or irritability
- Loss of muscle mass or reduced response to training
- Poor sleep or brain fog
- New diagnoses of diabetes, high cholesterol, or cardiovascular disease
Conventional treatment often involves testosterone replacement therapy (TRT). While this can be helpful, it is sometimes prescribed without exploring why hormone levels have dropped — missing the chance to correct deeper imbalances. It is also important to consider testosterone even when symptoms are not obvious, as low levels may still impact long-term health.

FAQ – Male Hormone Conditions & Functional Medicine
Do you offer hormone testing for men?
Yes. We run comprehensive hormone panels including total and free testosterone, DHEA, oestradiol, SHBG, and cortisol. We may also recommend urinary DUTCH testing, stool analysis, or advanced lipid testing depending on your health picture.
Is testosterone therapy always necessary?
Not always. We often support natural testosterone production through lifestyle, nutrition, supplementation, and addressing root causes. TRT is one option, but not the only one.
Can you help with prostate health or BPH?
Yes. We address hormone imbalances, nutrient deficiencies, and inflammation that contribute to prostate symptoms, using a safe, functional medicine approach.
I have had gender transition and/or do not identify as a man — can you still help?
Yes. We treat every patient as an individual. We will always respect your journey, identity, and preferences. A discovery call is the best way to discuss your needs.
Do you offer remote consultations?
Yes. We work with patients virtually across the UK.
How do appointments work?
Your first appointment is 90 minutes. Your doctor will have reviewed your history in advance. During the consultation, we will map out your current issues, likely causes, and next steps, including testing.
Does the appointment price include testing?
No. Testing is charged separately and only recommended if it will genuinely influence your treatment plan.
I already have a test and a diagnosis – can you still help?
Yes. You can upload your results before your appointment. If there are many, there may be a small preparation fee, but we will always confirm this with you first.
How does the nutrition side work?
We provide personalised nutrition advice for hormone balance and overall health. In more complex cases, we may recommend working with our nutritional therapist alongside your doctor for faster results.
